Cheese and beer are so incredibly delicious together! They’re the pinnacles of fermentation and flavor, history and mystery. They’re great on their own but when paired perfectly, they elevate each other to new heights.
Your host for this unique tasting event will be Rich Higgins — one of 18 Master Cicerones in the world, a former San Francisco brewmaster, an enthusiastic teacher, and a world traveler. He’ll introduce the different beers and cheeses, explaining their production methods and guiding you through the tasting. He’ll help you notice and describe the nuanced aromas, tastes and textures that interact to make the pairings sublime.
While having fun and tasting incredibly delicious beers and cheeses, you’ll hone your palate and learn tasting tips, beer and food pairing tactics, the brewing and oak-aging processes that make Cascade’s sour beers so special, why most wine and cheese pairings fail (gasp!) — and why beer is there to save the day!
After the hourlong tasting seminar, enjoy a half-hour reception to chat with Rich and Cascade’s Director of Brewing Operations, Kevin Martin. The Barrel House will offer pours of a few special, cellared bottles of Cascade beer. Mingle with the experts and your fellow beer and cheese fans — plus, keep your Cascade tasting goblet at the end!
