Tour the San Francisco Bay Area beer scene with a Master Cicerone and brewmaster! Rich Higgins has brewed professionally at several San Francisco brewpubs and he’s one of 18 Master Cicerones in the world. Join him for a fun afternoon of beer drinking, eating, and learning about the San Francisco area’s beer, food, history, and culture. He’ll answer all your beer questions, share historical and cultural insights, offer great beer and food pairings, and let you explore San Francisco’s beer scene like a local!
During SF Beer Week 2019, he’s offering special *San Francisco Editions* of his classic Beer Immersions to Europe. Rich regularly runs Beer Immersions in Belgium and Germany as explorations of classic European beer cultures.
ALAMEDA’S MALT, BEER, AND BARRELS

- beers and tours at: Admiral Maltings, Almanac Beer Co.’s Barrel House and Brewery, Faction Brewing, and Fort Point Beer Co. @ the Ferry Building
- plus: lunch at The Rake Pub at Admiral Maltings, beautiful views of San Francisco and Oakland skylines, and ferry rides underneath the Bay Bridge and across the San Francisco Bay!
We’ll be taking 2 ferry rides, averaging 30 minutes each. Please be advised and prepared if you are prone to motion-sickness and sea-sickness!!!
ALAMEDA TIMING: THURSDAY 2/7/19
- note that this Beer Immersion begins and ends in San Francisco, not in Alameda
- 10:45 AM (sharp!): we’ll meet-up at Fort Point Beer Co.’s taproom in San Francisco’s Ferry Building
- 5:00 PM: we’ll finish back at the Ferry Building
- We’ll be walking a lot at the former Naval Air Station Alameda base — expect to walk 3 miles in total.
- We’ll also be taking 2 ferries during the day.
- Be prepared for rain! We immerse, rain or shine. Bring an umbrella, a rain coat, water-resistant shoes, and a sunny attitude!

- Price includes: all your beer, food, and transit fares during the Immersion.
- Price does not include: your transportation to/from the Immersion meeting point, beers to-go, wine, spirits, nor merchandise. (Feel free to buy merch and beers for home, but these will be your own expenses.)

- 11:00 AM (sharp!): we’ll meet-up at San Francisco’s Embarcadero Station (details will be emailed)
- 5:30 PM: we’ll finish back at Embarcadero Station
- We’ll be walking much of the day — expect to walk 4.5 miles in total.
- We’ll also take a little bit of public transit.
- Be prepared for rain! We immerse, rain or shine. Bring an umbrella, a rain coat, water-resistant shoes, and a sunny attitude!

Rich has curated the itineraries, Rich has set up the appointments, and Rich leads the walking and transit routes, brings you to the breweries and restaurants, and handles settling the bill. You just get to have fun tasting, learning, and immersing yourself in beer culture!
